Our Causes

OUR MISSION

After losing Wyatt, we knew we wanted to re-channel our grief and pain to help others in our devastating situation.  If it weren't for resources like these, we would have had a much longer struggle in the days after. These are outstanding gifts.

Because of your support, Wishes For Wyatt has purchased and donated a CuddleCot to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, IL.

CUDDLECOTS

What is a CuddleCot?

A CuddleCot is a device used to keep a baby’s body cool after the child has passed away. This allows parents and families to spend as much time as they can with their child, while still preserving his/her body.

How a CuddleCot HELPED us

After Wyatt was born, I had an immediate need to hold him and not let go. The nurses informed me that I could keep him in my arms for as long as I wanted for my next three days in the hospital.

As we did not know the cause of Wyatt’s death, we were concerned that keeping him with us would destroy any chance we had at getting an autopsy.

We learned, however, that the CuddleCot Wyatt was wrapped in would allow us time to snuggle with our baby, while still preserving his body.

This not only allowed us time, but also allowed our family members to visit and say goodbye to our sweet boy.

We are so thankful for the three days of getting to hold and sleep with Wyatt, none of which could have been possible without the use of the CuddleCot.

About CuddleCot

A CuddleCot is a cooling system that preserves stillborn babies while their parents grieve. CuddleCots are produced in Europe and are shipped throughout the world. Surprisingly, however, there are only about 500 available in the United States. This means that a majority of bereaved parents do not get to have the same hospital experience that we did.

We will continue to raise money to purchase CuddleCot's for hospital's in need.

HEALing Embrace

What is HEALing Embrace?

HEALing Embrace is a non-profit organization that raises awareness and provides support to families who experience pregnancy and infant loss.

How HEALing Embrace helped us

Coming home from our two-night stay in the hospital was one of the worst parts of losing Wyatt. We had to say goodbye to our baby for the final time, and leave him behind with our nurses.

Walking into an empty house, an empty nursery, left me with an overwhelming need to feel the pressure of my baby laying on my chest.

The outpouring of love we received from our family and friends was incredible, and one of the most helpful gifts showed up at our door a few days later: a Wyatt’s “Birth”day Bear. One of my neighbors had contacted HEALing Embrace, who created a huggable, high-quality teddy bear who weighed exactly Wyatt’s birth weight; 6lb 5oz.

Getting to hold my Wyatt bear, and feel his weight on my chest is extremely comforting, and I will forever be grateful to HEALing Embrace for that!

Why HEALing Embrace?

“Birth”day Bears are just one aspect of the care and compassion HEALing Embrace provides for grieving families. They also supply care packages and give counseling, financial assistance, and any other form of support families may need.
